Spirit of the Sea – Acrylic & Sand
I have so many artist heroes I look up to and greatly admire in the enormous ability to capture something that is always moving and translate it thru the medium of paint onto canvas, from the Newlyn School of Artists in Cornwall to upto date artists such as Ran Ortner & Kurt Jackson.
For anyone who knows my work, they would know I love to paint the gorgeous coastline around Cornwall with wildflowers on the cliffs to white sandy beaches and wet sand reflections but once in a while it is good to get out of your comfort zone as an artist and push your bounderies, this is why I have decided to zoom up close on a few of my photos and purely concentrate on the sea itself and all the subtle colours this subject brings with it and of course trying to keep the swell moving, here is an example of a stormy sea at Trevaunance Cove, Nr St Agnes on the North Coast of Cornwall including beachsand from Trevaunance thrown into the paint to add another dimension and a memory of this stunning location.
