We are in this together.
Whether you are an accomplished artist or just beginning, in these dreadfully worrying times, Art can be a great way of coping with Isolation.. Remember, We are in this together.
Painting, drawing, crafts can be fun for ALL ages and with all the great methods of communication, such as Facebook, Zoom etc we can still communicate through art…..take a look at Facebook “Art in Isolation” it brings everyone together and is an inspiration to just have a go!
Make your front windows your gallery, cheer someone up as they walk by on their hours exercise by hanging a different creation each day, its a great icebreaker…We in Great Britain are very good at keeping ourselves to ourselves and going about our daily business BUT when faced with such a scenario as this, we ALL pull together and help each other and break down barriers to make the effort to really get to know our neighbours and help those who have little or no one…We are extremely good at that and I hope that this community spirit carries on after this nightmare that has effected each and everyone of us globally, will continue.
I am very fortunate to live in Cornwall, that has a thriving art community but even we have to adhere to the instruction to Stay at Home, even with the stunning beaches that surround our beautiful county we must stay at home but we will just have to adapt, so more painting in the garden and still life or past sketches, will be my drive to Carry on and keep painting.
So give it a go, do some art with the kids or grandparents or encourage those on their own or your neighbours to put a painting in the window and most importantly, it is a great way to pass time, it combats depression, it relaxes you, in these tough times ahead and allows you all to break down barriers and have a giggle a common interest.
